The Bear Liberation Front is training new operatives at Burning Man this year. We would like to take advantage of any fun and interesting activities that your camp may be producing to integrate into our training system. New BLF operatives will get missions from “Mission Control” and that’s where you come in. There are a LOT of activities on the playa that could be used in superspy training, and we’d love to take advantage of a few.

To attain operative status, our inductees must earn 1 espionage badge, 1 combat badge, and 1 intelligence gathering badge. For superspy status, the requirements are, of course, much higher! We would like to find camps that would like to help us out with anything spy-worthy.

For example, if you have a costuming theme, we could give an espionage badge to anyone that attends one of your events. If you have a self-defense demonstration, we could give a combat badge to anyone completing your course. If your camp hates teddy bears and all they stand for, you could help us with the espionage theme. If you are interested, please contact us at blf2007@googlegroups.com. Whether you are benign or malign to the teddy bear cause, we would love to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves. The cult of the cub/bear

I would like to interject here that we may have gone too far in encouraging bears and cubs to become big fat slobs. There's no rule here that says a man has to become clinically obese in order to be a bear. I know plenty of bears who are in incredible shape. But it seems that we are leading our young bears (cubs) astray when it comes to weight. They are now using it as an excuse to refrain from taking care of themselves. This is something we should be discouraging, not the other way around. I see these young guys in their teens and twenties who are just huge, and it is going to have long-lasting effects upon their health and well being. I realize that there are plenty of guys out there who are attracted to this sort of thing, but please, guys. Let's be realistic about it. No one benefits from being over weight. Quite the opposite is true. We need to be urging our young men to keep themselves fit and happy.

Coming Soon: Mature policy changes, and Community Flagging
I've already started a thread on Tribe Ideas about this, but thought it was worth posting here as well.

We're going to be making some changes shortly to our mature policy, the TOU, and introducing a new feature for Community Flagging. These changes should happen around the 12/20 time frame.

Community Flagging is going to allow users to flag content they think is offensive, or prohibited by terms of use, and those items will ultimately be removed automatically from the site. This will replace the current mature system altogether.

In addition, the TOU is being updated to prohibit content which "portrays obscenity, pornography, or sexually explicit conduct."

Again, why are we doing this?

1. We want Tribe to be a respectful, positive environment. Some users, even with the Mature system in place, were still coming across content they found offensive.

2. The legal environment for adult content online has changed dramatically.

3. It's more tribe-like for users to decide together what content is appropriate or not. This allows us to stop marking a tribe as "mature" if it has a single risque photo in it, etc.

What does this mean to you specifically as a Tribe moderator? It's going to give you help in deciding what content is appropriate for your tribe.

Comments? Questions? Let's discuss this now before the changes actually roll.

Just to confuse everyone even more I'd like to propose yet another subdivion of the species. I really like furry guys and I really like short guys (under 5'7), so when I see a guy who fits both categories my hormones go into overdrive!

I call them teddy bears cos they are small, furry and BOY do they feel good snuggling up to you after the main event, his head on your chest as your cuddle his woofy little body...

Maintenance

So I'm guessing everyone here is pretty much proud of their fuzzy state of being, but um... how many of you out there trim? Like, every now and then I trim um, er... certain areas and while I'm at I trim the surrounding area (mostly my upper legs).

To me, it just feels nicer than when I let it go and I'm all wildman and stuff. I'd never shave (I did it once for a bf and swore I'd never do it again) but a nice trim every now and then is quite refreshing. So anyways...how many of you fellers do that?

Fashion Bears? Fashion Otters?

Okay...

For a bit now I have been hearing this term thrown around nyc... the 'fashion bear.'

I suppose we can guess what this is -- but it is a rather bizarre concept.

Of course, I really really wanted to be a 'fashion bear.'

However, I kept talking about it and eventually found out that I am not a fashion bear. My friend Joe explained to me that I was not stalky enough to be a fashion bear... instead, I am a 'fashion otter.'

I had never heard any gay catagorization of 'otters,' but apparently it's a real thing. Is anybody familiar with this? I think it's great... I'm sure when my metabolizm catches up with me I'll end up a 'fashion bear,' and I am fine with that. However, otters are really really cute animals.

I'm currently obsessed with being a fashion otter... I brought it up at every family dinner this winter.

does any one know why...when sending someone a message..after clicking send/submit the next thing you see is a screen that says : Your message has been cancelled. ??

it's happened to me a few times now and i just wonder if it's even getting through to the person i'm sending to!

On Friday December 3, from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, CyberBears will be hosting its first bear sex party at The Citadel, the hottest new playspace in San Francisco. This huge, well-equipped 7,000 square foot dungeon is at 245 8th Street, between Howard and Folsom. It has everything for men of all inclinations: multiple play stations, double-sided crosses, stocks, a restraining bed, metal bondage cage, a brick torture chamber, and much more.

CyberBears is the San Francisco studio which brings you www.CyberBears.com and its family of related sites and DVD's.

AMENITIES: Of course, it wouldn't be a Bear Party without yummy treats, big comfortable couches, a special smoking room, and plenty of free condoms and lube. For inspiration, we will be running some of our most popular CyberBears features on DVD all night long. There will be experienced party hosts wandering through the crowd as well, to help keep the games safe and sane.
